Azerbaijan carried out rail freight in the amount of $572.1 million from January through March 2020, which is 15.7 percent less compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports citing a report of the State Customs Committee (SCC).
Over the reporting period, the volume of freight transportation by rail amounted to 1.4 million tons, which is 12.5 percent less compared to the same period of 2019.
Meanwhile, the volume of the freight exported by rail increased by 2.1 percent and amounted to 453,400 tons, amounting in monetary terms to $111.5 million, showing a decrease of 19.2 percent.
The volume of imported rail freight amounted to 960,220 tons worth $460.98 million, and indicated a decline of 14.6 percent.
In 1Q2020, Azerbaijan’s total trade turnover reached $6.8 billion, export amounted to $4.21 billion, and import exceeded $2.6 billion.
