Ministry of transport eyes transferring airports of Uzbekistan to foreign investors

Indian company GMR Group has been invited to participate in tenders on transfer of international airports of Uzbekistan to investors on the terms of public-private partnership, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Transport.

In the course of online negotiations, GMR Group representatives presented their projects on construction, modernization and management of international airports in India, Turkey and the Philippines.

The company has extensive experience in developing the concept of green airports, as well as in implementing innovative technologies in airports (face recognition technologies and multiple passenger capacity increase through checkpoints using mobile phones and other devices).

Information on the work being done by the Ministry of Transport to establish a logistics hub in Central Asia was also provided during the meeting.

GMR Group, founded in 1978, is the largest airport development company in India and the fourth largest private airport development company in the world.

It owns Delhi and Hyderabad International Airports (India) and operates Mactan Cebu Airport (Philippines). The airport in Goa (India) and the airport in Crete (Greece) are both under construction. The company also works in the fields of energy, transport (construction of roads, railways, metro) and urban infrastructure.
