Iranian minister: manufacturing of railway vehicles continues

The process of manufacturing and delivery of railway vehicles to the railway network with the resources of the National Development Fund of Iran continues, Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mohammad Eslami said, Trend reports citing IRNA.

He made the remark at an event dedicated to the commissioning of 50 new freight wagons and locomotives.

The minister emphasized that in this regard, 50 railway vehicles have been added to the Iranian railway network today on July 26.

Eslami added that as a result of the government's support for domestic production, Iran's railway sector has developed, and domestic railway companies and related equipment manufacturers have identified and addressed the problems.

As many as 50 freight wagons and locomotives worth 690 billion rials (about $16.4 million) were commissioned today (June 26).

In addition, 49 new freight wagons were manufactured by Wagon Pars and Wagon Kowsar Company, and 1 locomotive was repaired by MAPNA Group.

In total, 259 passenger and freight wagons and locomotives worth 4.94 trillion rials (about $117 million) were commissioned in the current Iranian year (began March 20, 2020).
