By Jeila Aliyeva - Trend:

Turkmenistan is undoubtedly an interesting country, and its geographic location creates a number of opportunities, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Poland told Trend.

The ministry added that in the years 2019 and 2020, cooperation with Turkmenistan solely concerns the export commissioned by the PKP LHS company’s consignors within the broad gauge line.

“The largest polish and one of the largest European freight carriers, PKP CARGO S.A. is not cooperating directly with Turkmenistan during the handling of the cargo transport from China to the EU market, whereas another member of the PKP Group, PKP Linia Hutnicza Szerokotorowa sp. z o.o. (PKP Broad Gauge Metallurgical Railway Line – PKP LHS), cooperate within the framework of joint railroad transport in Agreement on International Railway Freight Communication SMGS,” added the Polish ministry.

Talking about the cooperation with Turkmenistan, the ministry added that the Organization for Cooperation between Railways (OSJD) is an important area of multilateral cooperation in which Poland and Turkmenistan are involved, as well as Azerbaijan and other countries in Asia and the Caucasus.

“Thanks to the ongoing discussion, we have the opportunity to develop administrative solutions that reduce the number of required documents and thus shorten the total time needed to cover a given route,” noted the ministry.

Furthermore, the ministry added that The Trans-Caspian Transport Route (Middle Corridor) is a very prospective transport project.

“The number of entities cooperating within the Middle Corridor is constantly growing. The constant increase in transport relations between Poland and Turkmenistan in 2020 shows potential for the further development of transports on this route, despite the global economic crisis ascribed to the COVID-19 pandemic,” said the ministry about the cooperation with Turkmenistan within Trans-Caspian Transport Route.

Cargo goods transported to Turkmenistan within the LHS Broad Gauge Line operator are being handled from the moment of the COVID-10 pandemic outbreak until now, added the ministry.
