Uzbekistan Railways disclosed a loss of 352 billion soums ($33.7 million), Trend reports referring to the company's annual report on the Single portal of corporate information.

According to the reports, the company's net revenue for 2019 amounted to 8.1 trillion soums ($776 million), gross profit - 2.8 trillion ($268 million), profit from core activities - 2.1 trillion.

In addition, expenditures on financial activities for the reported period amounted to 2.9 trillion soums, losses from foreign exchange rate differences - 2.6 trillion soums ($201 million).

For comparison, the company ended 2018 with a net profit of 850 billion soums ($81.4 million), but then the profit from general business activities amounted to 912 billion soums ($87.3 million), and this year a loss of 352 billion soums ($33.7 million) has been registered.

Back in May 2020, it became known that domestic transport companies suffered a loss of 340 billion soums ($32.6 million) due to quarantine restrictions, and this figure will increase further until the epidemiological situation stabilizes.

Previously Uzbekistan Airways summed up and received a net loss of 767.7 billion soums ($74.4 million) in the first half of 2020.

Earlier it was reported that the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Uzbekistan Railways, and the Russian side, will organize the movement of special trains on the route Tashkent - Moscow – Tashkent in order to return Uzbek citizens from Russia during a pandemic.

The authorities of Uzbekistan have suspended transport links with other countries due to the threat of the spread of coronavirus since March 16, 2020.
