Currently, Kazakhstan pays great attention to the development of container transportation by railway and sea, the Kazakh Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development told Trend on Jan. 25.
The main route for the movement of containerized cargo is the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor).
The work is regularly carried out to create attractive technical and tariff conditions, ensure delivery date and the procedure for interaction of logistics operators for the development of Middle Corridor.
Moreover, the "United Transport and Logistics Company" Joint Stock Company, which envisages a single technology for rendering transport and logistics services and an agreed tariff policy, was created to develop the transport and logistics system of the Common Economic Space, to render transport and logistics services in the direction of China-Europe, jointly with the railway administrations of Kazakhstan, Belarus and Russia.
“In general, the main vector of Kazakhstan's development follows the path of increasing freight turnover in the direction of China-Europe-China, in which transit volumes of cargo are increasing every year,” the ministry said. “So, cargo volumes reached 500,000 TEU (twenty pounds equivalent) for 11 months of 2020 or an increase of 63 percent compared to the same period of 2019.”
Presently, Iran is considering the plans to launch a transit route through Central Asia, within which Kazakhstan has already signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of organizing container transportation. Regular (at least once a week) container transportation is carried out between the ports of Aktau and Caspian (Anzali) within this agreement.
