Kazakhstan reveals total number of TEU containers shipped along Aktau-Baku feeder line

Since the launch (April 16, 2019) of the regular feeder line along Aktau-Baku-Aktau, which is a part of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (hereinafter – TITR), 25,145 TEU-containers in the twenty-foot equivalent (TEU) have been transported along with it, Trend reports citing Kazakhstan’s Kazmortransflot National Maritime Shipping Company (NMSC).

Since the beginning of the feeder line operation, 17,613 TEU containers were transported via the feeder line from the port of Aktau, and 7,532 TEU from the port of Baku.

The cargo consists mainly of crops, fruits and vegetables, consumer goods, machinery and spare parts, frozen products, chemical and mineral fertilizers, and many others, the NMSC message reads.

“During the existence of the feeder line, various KMTF vessels were involved, such as the dry cargo vessels Turkestan and Beket-Ata, modernized container shipping vessel “Barys”. From March 8, 2021, the main feeder vessel on the line is the “Barys” container shipping vessel. Feeder vessel made a total of 227 consecutive voyages,” said the message.

Since the beginning of the launch of the feeder at TITR, the cargo traffic volume in both directions has been gradually increasing and has reached its peak. Since December 2020, the Ankara – Xi’an train departs regularly, marking the success of the entire TITR in both directions.
