The regular movement of trains carrying export and import goods from Turkey to Azerbaijan and in the opposite direction had a great impact on the growth of cargo transportation via the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway.
So, more than 11 TEU-containers were transported via BTK during six months of this year.
The Azerbaijani and Iranian customs services discussed the development of current cooperation in the direction of accelerating border processes and expanding the transit potential of the two countries.
Further strengthening of cooperation in the field of transit cargo transportation can make a great contribution to regional development and increase the attractiveness of transport corridors passing through the territories of the two countries.
The customs structures are charged with solving important tasks in this sphere.
The Khanoba customs post will be commissioned in Azerbaijan soon to eliminate queues that arise at the border of Azerbaijan and Russia.
The introduction of digital TIR operations into international economic corridors passing through Azerbaijan ("East-West" and "North-South") is one of the priority issues of the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee.
Azerbaijan's priority as the main transit country in the region is the use of digital transit operations in the corridor concept.
The process of organizing eTIR transportation within the various regional and international organizations is one of the main issues on the agenda of the State Customs Committee.
Construction of the Fehmarn Belt underwater tunnel, connecting Denmark and Germany across the Baltic Sea, has begun.
The cost of the project is seven billion euros.
Two electric railway lines and a 4-lane motorway will be built in the tunnel. Floating excavators have already been attracted for the construction.
Commissioning is scheduled for 2029.
