Azerbaijan shares data on cargo transportation figures for 7M2021

Cargo transportation by sea in Azerbaijan exceeded 3.23 million tons from January through July 2021, which is 8.2 percent less compared to the same period of 2021, Trend reports citing the State Statistics Committee's report.

Passenger traffic by the sea in the reporting period amounted to 8,100 people, which is a decrease of 31.4 percent on annual basis.

“Transshipment of goods by the seaports of Azerbaijan in the specified period amounted to 5.18 million tons. Of these, 96.4 percent, or 4.937 million tons, accounted for transit cargo,” said the report.

Oil accounted for 37.1 percent of Azerbaijan's sea export cargo transportation.

As of August 1, the volume of cargo in the ports amounted to 136.5 thousand tons.

From January through July of this year, cargo transportation by all types of transport in Azerbaijan amounted to 107.9 million tons, which is 3 percent less compared to the same period of last year, and passenger transportation amounted to 650.4 million people, which is a 15.2 percent decrease over the year. The share of maritime transport accounted for three percent of all cargo transportation.
