Iran puts new port facilities into operation in Gilan Province

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 9

Two port facilities have been put into operation in the ports of Gilan Province (northern Iran) in recent days, Director General of Ports and Maritime Department of Gilan Province Hamid Reza Abaei said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

According to the report, in total, 13.1 trillion rials (about $31.3 million) have been spent in this regard, and as a result, 144 people have been provided with jobs.

“One of the facilities put into operation in the province is a 30,000-ton grain warehouse. The warehouse is located in an area of 8,500 square meters. The construction of the warehouse cost 404 billion rials (about $9.63 million), and 33 people were employed with the launch of the warehouse,” the report said.

The second facility is a container terminal and its infrastructure. The construction of the terminal cost 910 billion rials (about $21.7 million). A total of 101 people were employed with the launch of the terminal.
