Iran records surge in volume of essential goods unloaded at Imam Khomeini port

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 11. The volume of essential goods unloaded at the Imam Khomeini port of the Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran) increased by 19 percent, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), Director General for Khuzestan Province Ports and Maritime Department Adil Deris said, Trend reports citing the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

The official emphasized that in total, more than 17.5 million tons of essential goods were unloaded at the Imam Khomeini port within the last Iranian year.

“Furthermore, a total of 18.3 million tons of essential goods were transported from the Imam Khomeini port to the country's provinces for last year, which is 26 percent more than in the preceding Iranian year,” he added.

According to Deris, about 2 million tons of the essential goods were transported to the provinces through railways. This is an increase of 11 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year.
