BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 7. Overall, 746 passenger cars were transited through Iran’s Anzali port in Gilan Province (northern Iran) to the Aktau port of Kazakhstan since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023) to date, Deputy Director of Ports and Maritime Department of Gilan Province, Mojtaba Nazari said, Trend reports.
Nazari noted that the mentioned cars were transited by Ro-Ro ships. The use of Ro-Ro ships in the Caspian Sea reduces the time of loading and unloading operations and enables rapid implementation of transit.
“In general, cargo transit through Iran’s Anzali port for the reporting period increased by 73 percent compared to the same period in the last Iranian year,” the deputy director added.
Meanwhile, approximately 125,000 tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at Iran’s Anzali port for the 2nd month of the current Iranian year (April 21 through May 21, 2023).
The annual cargo capacity of Iran's Anzali port is 6.15 million tons.
