BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 20. The cargo transportation by sea in Azerbaijan exceeded 4.5 million tons, which is 21.7 percent more than in the same period last year, Trend reports.
According to the data from the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, passenger transportation by sea in the reporting period amounted to 10,500 people, which is 6.1 percent more compared to the period from January through June 2022.
Moreover, the cargo transportation by the seaports of Azerbaijan in the specified period amounted to over 6.3 million tons, and transit cargo - 5.2 million tons (82.4 percent).
In general, 56.7 percent of Azerbaijan's export cargo transportation by sea accounted for oil.
The volume of cargo in the ports of Azerbaijan amounted to 237.300 tons as of 1 July.
Cargo transportation by all means of transport amounted to 109.2 million tons in Azerbaijan from January through June 2023, which is 6.4 percent higher compared to the same period in 2022. Passenger traffic in Azerbaijan exceeded 894.4 million people during the reporting period, which is 17.3 percent higher in comparison with the same period in 2022.
