BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 7. Azerbaijan imported 48,373 cars from January through June 2023, which is 13,200 cars (37.5 percent) more in comparison with the same period last year, Trend reports.
According to the Azerbaijan State Customs Committee, the majority of imports were passenger cars—44,937, which is 12,555 units (38.7 percent) greater than the period from January to June 2022. Among them were 77 vehicles with seating for ten or more people, 1,124 electric vehicles, and 7,329 hybrid vehicles.
Imports of hybrid vehicles climbed by 17.8 percent (1,111 units) between January and June 2022.
The number of imported trucks increased by 37 percent and reached 3,161 over the year.
The value of imported cars increased by 38.8 percent ($292.4 million) and amounted to over $753.3 million.
Azerbaijan imported 74,577 cars in 2022, which is 18.22 percent (16,617 units) less in comparison with 2021. The value of imported cars increased by 13.1 percent and amounted to about $1.05 billion last year.
