BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 30. Cargo transit through Iran’s Dogharoon border terminal in Razavi Khorasan Province (north-eastern Iran) to Afghanistan rose by 38 percent, during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, head of the terminal Esmaeil Pourabed said, Trend reports.
“Over 6 months, more than 277,000 tons of cargo were transited to Afghanistan via the mentioned border terminal,” Pourabed noted.
The director also added that goods were transported by 12,987 trucks.
According to him, Dogharoon border terminal ranked 5th in terms of cargo transit among border terminals of the country.
In total, 5.84 million tons of cargo were transited through Iranian roads within the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023). This is an increase of approximately 17 percent compared with the same time last Iranian year.
Meanwhile, in the same period last year, cargo transit via Iran’s roads stood at 5 million tons.
