BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 2. Cargo transit through customs of Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan Province (south-eastern Iran) increased by 19 percent in the first half of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023), compared with the same time last year, Director for the Economic Affairs Department of the Sistan and Baluchestan Province Governor Office Mojtaba Shojaei said, Trend reports.
The official noted that in total, 472,000 tons of cargo were transited via the province’s customs for 6 months.
He also added that potatoes, fruits, sesames, rice, tobacco, bean, fabric, corn, and various spices were the main transited goods.
According to Shojaei, the mentioned goods were carried to Pakistan, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Türkiye, India, the UAE, Kazakhstan, Georgia and Iran.
Meanwhile, a total of 7.7 million tons of cargo were transited through Iran during the first 6 months of the current Iranian year, which is an increase of 8.24 percent compared to the same period last year.
