BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 8. A new tanker, "Zangilan" will enter the balance of Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company CJSC (ASCO) in 2024, Trend reports.
"This oil tanker with a carrying capacity of 8,000 tons is being built at the shipyard by order of ASCO. It will start its operation this year and can be involved in SOCAR's trade and transportation operations,” the shipyard representative emphasized.
The dimensions of the vessel are 141 meters in length, 16.9 meters in width, 6 meters in draft, and 10 knots per hour.
In the meantime, Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov said at the tanker's construction ceremony last year that its construction is "an important contribution to Azerbaijan's transit cargo transportation, successful implementation of oil and gas projects, and development of the local shipbuilding industry."
To note, the largest fleet in the Caspian Sea belongs to ASCO, which has 55 ships of various purposes.
