Kazakhstan’s ERG (Eurasian Group) and the German ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions company signed a major contract for the implementation of an environmental project in Pavlodar, Trend reports.

Within the project, four electrostatic precipitators in sintering furnaces No. 4 and No. 5 will be replaced at the Pavlodar aluminum plant, having invested over 19 billion tenge ($44 million).

“Today we signed this contract for the supply and installation of new hybrid filters at the furnaces of the Pavlodar aluminum plant. They are part of the environmental program that we are implementing,” Ardak Nuraskhanov, General Director of ERG Capital Projects, told journalists after signing the contract. As a result of the installation of these filters, a high degree of purification of exhaust gases from the sintering furnace will be achieved - up to 99.99 percent of purification quality.”

According to Nuraskhanov, similar filters have already been installed at the mentioned plant. The project for their installation was implemented in 2020 when 2 hybrid filters were supplied as a new technology for sintering furnace No. 1.

“During the second phase of the project, the company will replace and additionally install four filters on two furnaces: furnace No. 4 and No. 5. The full program envisions gradual replacement and installation of hybrid filters on all ovens. The program will be implemented until 2030,” added the CEO.
