ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 12. Kazakh charity foundation Halyk will allocate more than 1.3 billion tenge (about $2.8 million) to social projects in the city of Zhanaozen (Mangistau region), Trend reports.
This was stated at a meeting between the city’s executive power and the chairman of the board of Halyk, Umut Shayakhmetova.
The planned projects include construction of a fitness and health center and also a desalination plant. During construction of the health center, 150 temporary jobs will be created, and after its opening - 50 permanent ones.
The Mangistau region is the only one in Kazakhstan where desalinated seawater is mostly used. To improve water supply in the region, a water desalination plant with a capacity of 4,000 m3 per day will be built in the village of Akshukur, Tupkaragan district, and a desalination plant in the city of Zhanaozen for desalination and pumping of groundwater.
In general, over the period 2022-2023, Halyk Bank and the Halyk Foundation allocated more than 43 billion tenge (about $93 million) to charitable and social projects in the fields of education, ecology, culture and sports throughout the country.
