ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 25. The Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan, Marat Karabayev, during his visit to the Chinese city of Qingdao (Shandong province), visited the automated container terminal of the Shandong (SPG) port group, Trend reports.
SPG is a partner of global shipping leaders. In 2022, the cargo turnover of the group of companies, which has more than 360 production berths and over 320 container shipping routes, exceeded 1.62 billion tons.
To date, Shandong Port Group has agreed to cooperate with the ports of Kuryk and Aktau in terms of expanding their capacities, as well as with Kazakhstan Railways in the development of logistics products and digital services, the export of Kazakh products, the development of sea ports, and other logistics infrastructure in Kazakhstan.
After getting acquainted with the work of the port, the Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan and representatives of SPG discussed the implementation of such potential joint investment projects as the construction of a logistics trade hub and shipyard in Aktau, the expansion of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, the integration of port logistics resources, etc.
Marat Karabayev also visited the GA COSCO container terminal and held negotiations with the general director of the Chinese-Singapore joint venture, which is engaged in international integrated container logistics and maritime import and export transportation of goods. The company is one of the leading logistics enterprises in Qingdao in terms of scale, service functions, and comprehensive capacity.
Marat Karabaev and Liu Xiaojun discussed the issues of providing Kazakh exporters with access to the markets of China and Southeast Asian countries through the GA COSCO infrastructure, as well as the possibility of jointly developing an algorithm for the delivery of Chinese and transit cargo from Southeast Asian countries, Japan, and South Korea through the port of Qingdao via TITR.
