ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 25. Turkish Alarko Holding intends to invest $650 million in the Kazakh city of Shymkent to build a unique greenhouse complex on an area of 200 hectares, Trend reports.

This was stated during a meeting between the head of the city’s executive power, Gabit Syzdykbekov, and representatives of the company.

This project, implemented in stages, will be unprecedented for Shymkent. The giant complex will be created in an agro-industrial zone located in the Martobe residential area. It is planned to build other greenhouse complexes here.

Within this agricultural complex, capable of producing 40,000 tons of products per year, various crops will be grown, including cucumbers, tomatoes, bell peppers and peas.

About 1,000 people will be employed in the greenhouse complex.

The produced agricultural products will be mainly intended for the city population, and will also be supplied to other regions of the country and abroad.

"I express my gratitude for your interest in implementing your major projects in our city. Every investor is important to us. For our part, we are ready to provide you with maximum support. All favorable conditions will be created for the construction of the complex, and the agro-industrial zone will be provided with the necessary infrastructure" Syzdykbekov said.

Construction of the greenhouse complex will begin next year. The investment project will provide local residents with quality food products and stabilize prices.
