Kazakhstan, Thailand reach agreement on visa-free regime

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, August 19. Kazakhstan has approved an agreement on a visa-free regime with Thailand, Trend reports.

According to a document published on the portal of Kazakhstan's electronic standard control bank of regulatory legal acts, citizens of Kazakhstan and Thailand with valid travel documents worth at least 6 months are exempt from visa requirements for entry, exit, transit, and temporary stay in the other party's state for up to 30 days from the date of entry, with a maximum of 90 days per stay.

On April 23, Kazakhstan and Thailand signed an agreement on exemption from visa requirements for holders of national passports.

The agreement was signed by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu, and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara.

Meanwhile, cooperation in tourism is actively developing, and the number of direct flights between two countries is growing. In 2023, 172,000 Kazakh tourists visited Thailand, which is 2.5 times higher than the figure for 2022.

Notably, In 2023, the total value of trade between Thailand and Kazakhstan was $367 million.
