Supreme Commander of Armed Forces of Kyrgyzstan Roza Otunbayeva bid a farewell to National Guard of Kyrgyzstan
Otunbayeva on her last day in the status of President arrived at work at the usual time and went up in an office on the 7th floor, the press service of the President reported.
Incumbent Kyrgyz president Roza Otunbayeva greeted the honor guard of the Kyrgyzstan National Guard before the main entrance of the White House an hour before the inauguration of elected Kyrgyzstan President Almazbek Atambayev. Otunbayeva, speaking in the status of the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of Kyrgyzstan for the last time, addressed the guard with words of gratitude.
Otunbayeva thanked the guardsmen for their service, stressing that during her presidential term she felt their security and loyalty.
After farewell to Guard, Otunbayeva directed to the National Philharmonic, where Atambayev's presidential inauguration ceremony was to begin.
Otunbayeva took the oath as Kyrgyzstan's President on July 3, 2010 and led the country for 1 year and 8 months. She became not only the first woman president in Central Asia, but also the first president of the Central Asian parliamentary republic.
Roza Isakovna was born on August 23, 1950 in Bishkek. In 1972 she graduated from the Philosophy Faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU). Her political biography began in 1981 when she became the second secretary of the Lenin district committee of the party. She was elected as a member of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan in 1986. She became Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Kyrgyzstan, Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1986 to 1989. Diplomatic activity continued until 2004. She became a founder and co-chairman of the opposition movement Ata Jurt on December 22, 2004
Otunbayeva and her family were glaumed during the parliamentary elections in 2005. She actively supported the revolution and opposed the clan system, established by President Akayev in 2005. After the "tulip revolution" Otunbayeva headed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the government headed by Bakiev again. But she went into opposition to the regime soon.
Otunbayeva was elected as a head of the executive committee at the national assembly in March 2010 by the people's demands. She led interim government of national trust in April.
Strong modest woman make the world to recognize the tiny country in Central Asia as a worthy member of the international community and implemented a peaceful transfer of power in the country for the first time.
Roza Isaakovna has two children, a daughter Karachach and a son Atay. She became a grandmother on November 11, 2011. Leaving the post, Otunbayeva announced that she will do everything for the benefit of her favorite Kyrgyzstan.
