Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev rejected a law on compulsory chemical castration of pedophiles adopted by the parliament today, the Public Relations Department of Kyrgyz president apparatus told ITAR-TASS.

Atambayev believes that the law "will not achieve state goals and would aggravate the punishment of those who commit heinous crimes that cause righteous anger and disapproval from society."

"According to the president, the effectiveness of counteraction to crimes against children's sexual integrity can be increased through further amplification of criminal penalties to life imprisonment for crimes committed not only against minors, but also against non-adults," the department noted.
