BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 13. Kyrgyzstan asked United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) for assistance in finding sales markets for local farmers, Trend reports citing the press-service of Kyrgyz Ministry of the Foreign Affairs.

The matter was discussed during the meeting of Kyrgyz Deputy Foreign Minister Dinara Kemelova with WFP Director Kojiro Nakai. The discussion focused on issues of ensuring food security, providing support to residents of mountainous regions and providing healthy nutrition to schoolchildren.

Moreover, Kemelova emphasized the importance of WFP assistance to the Batken region, in particular, in implementation of measures outlined in the Regional Development Plan that was recently established.

For his part, the UN World Food Programme Director stated that he is ready to continue implementing existing initiatives in Kyrgyzstan, as well as to consider options for assistance in the spheres mentioned by the Kyrgyz side.
