BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 26. Kyrgyzstan saw a rise in the import of passenger cars from January through March 2023, Trend reports.
According to the statistical data from Kyrgyzstan, the import of passenger cars increased fourfold year-on-year, reaching a total of 30,871 cars in the first quarter of 2023. In the corresponding period of the previous year, the country imported only 6,999 passenger cars.
Moreover, the value of the import experienced a sharper increase of 6.5 times year-on-year – from $49 million to $323 million.
The largest share of the import fell on the US – 8,286 cars, and South Korea – 7,930 cars.

Kyrgyzstan's trade turnover reached $2.7 billion from January through March 2023, which is an increase of 25.4 percent compared to the same period in 2022, when it stood at $2.1 billion.
Exports surpassed $434.7 million, indicating a 15 percent growth compared to the first quarter of 2022 when $376 million was recorded. On the other hand, imports amounted to $2.2 billion, which is a 27-percent rise compared to $1.7 billion in the corresponding months of 2022.
