BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 30. Kyrgyzstan's National Bank has conducted 9 interventions to sell dollars since the beginning of 2023, the Officer-in-Charge of the Monetary Operations Department at the National Bank, Atai Akparaly uulu said, Trend reports.
According to him, the bank has sold $456.67 million on the foreign exchange market since the beginning of the year.
He added that there is currently no dollar deficit in Kyrgyzstan, and the cost of foreign currency depends entirely on supply and demand.
The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan has run intervention in the foreign exchange market on these dates of 2023:
On May 25, the National Bank sold $62.2 million in the foreign exchange market;
On April 19, the National Bank sold $40.97 million in the foreign exchange market;
On April 13, the National Bank sold $46.2 million in the foreign exchange market;
On March 31 the National Bank sold $45.2 million in the foreign exchange market;
On March 13 the National Bank sold $35 million in the foreign exchange market;
On February 15 the National Bank sold $35.6 million in the foreign exchange market;
On February 13 the National Bank sold $40.2 million in the foreign exchange market;
On February 6 the National Bank sold $47.1 million in the foreign exchange market;
On January 10 the National Bank sold $104.2 million in the foreign exchange market.
In 2022, the bank conducted interventions in the foreign exchange market on 15 occasions. Out of these interventions, 8 involved the sale of foreign currency amounting to $486.5 million, while 7 interventions were for the purchase of $190.74 million.
