BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 5. Tajikistan expects to increase the share of industry in its GDP by 2030, said Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zavqi Zavqizoda, Trend reports via asiaplustj.info.

According to the forecasts of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, the share of industry in Tajikistan's GDP will reach 26 percent in 2025, and by 2030 this figure will increase to 30 percent.

"The government, in accordance with the National Development Strategy for 2016-2030, expects to turn Tajikistan into an industrial-agrarian country by 2030," Zavqizoda said.

He pointed out that in order to achieve this goal, Tajikistan will strive to increase industrial and energy capacities, reducing the dependence of the country's economy on agriculture.

Meanwhile, last year share of industry in the structure of the country's GDP amounted to 18.2 percent. Overall, Tajikistan's GDP in 2021 amounted to 98.9 billion somoni ($9.6 billion).
