DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, October 23. More than 67 million passengers were transported by various means of transport in Tajikistan from January to September 2023, Trend reports.
Data from Tajikistan's Statistics Agency indicates that this figure increased by 9.8 percent compared to the same period in 2022. During the months under review, 99.9 percent of passengers were transported by land transport.
Simultaneously, more than 86 million tons of cargo were transported by various means of transport in Tajikistan from January through September 2023, which is a 14.6 percent increase compared to the same period in 2022.
In early October 2023, Tajikistan's Minister of Transportation, Azim Ibrahim, announced that 12 investment projects with a total value of $1.052 billion are in progress in the country’s transport sector.
Speaking at the "Dushanbe 2023" International Investment Forum in late September this year, the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, announced that the country has, to date, put into operation over two thousand kilometers of modern highways, 190 kilometers of railways, and more than 30 kilometers of road tunnels.
