Ashgabat hosted a meeting of the Turkmen Central Election Commission, dedicated to holding by-elections to the local self-government bodies - people's councils and gengeshi instead of representatives who have left these bodies.
A decision was made to start the electoral campaign. Constituencies will work on that day from 07:00 am to 19:00 pm.
The procedure of holding the election campaign has been determined. The appropriate guidance for electoral commissions and a booklet to the media and national observers were approved. Moreover, the approved samples of the necessary documents for nominating candidates to the people's councils and gengeshi instead of those who have left and sample of ballots have been approved.
'Under the new historical conditions, members of the People's Councils and Gengeshi play the role of active guides of fundamental reforms and large scale development programmes implemented in the country', the statement said.
