Russia to finance update of municipal and road equipment park in Uzbekistan

A tripartite agreement was signed between the administration of the city of Tashkent, Russia’s state development corporation VEB.RF and the Russian Export Center JSC (VEB.RF group) within the framework of INNOPROM international industrial exhibition held in Uzbekistan, Trend reports citing Russian Export Center JSC.

The document provides for the joint implementation of a project to update and expand the park of municipal and road equipment for the relevant services of the city of Tashkent. Thus, the Russian side is expected to supply more than 130 units of equipment worth 1.25 billion rubles ($171 billion).

According to the agreement, VEB, EXIAR JSC (Russian Agency for Export Credit and Investment Insurance) and ROSEKSIMBANK JSC (Russian Export Center group) will provide financing for the project within the framework of their credit and insurance products to support Russian exports.

Russian Export Center, in turn, will involve Russian manufacturers in the implementation of the program, while part of the equipment will be assembled directly in Uzbekistan at the UzAuto Trailer LLC jointly with KAMAZ PJSC and manufacturers of specialized superstructures.

The Deputy Chairman and Member of the Board of VEB.RF Daniil Algulyan said that the potential for cooperation in the supply of municipal equipment is more than five billion rubles ($684 million).

“Uzbekistan is one of the key directions for VEB.RF, a partner that has been proving its reliability for several years. The supply of municipal equipment will help strengthen our cooperation. Russia will have the opportunity to increase the export of mechanical engineering products, the residents of Tashkent - reliable and efficient equipment, thanks to which their city will become even more beautiful and more comfortable,” Algulyan noted.
