BAKU, Azerbaijan,May 18.The volume of cash in circulation in Uzbekistan increased by 5.3 trillion soums ($475.5 million) and reached 33.1 trillion soums ($2.9 billion) in April 2022, Trend reports via Uzbek Central Bank (CBU).
According to the CBU, this is a record monthly growth since February 2013. The last time such a sharp increase in cash in circulation was observed during the pandemic in May 2020.
Growth is observed in almost all indicators of monetary aggregates, with the exception of deposits in foreign currency, which decreased by 409 billion soums ($36.7 million) and reached 43.8 trillion soums ($3.9 billion).
