BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 24. Uzbekistan may export saffron to the US, Trend reports via the Uzbek BMB Trade Group company.

According to the company, after a series of certification procedures and checks, Uzbek saffron received permission to access the US markets.

Currently, saffron grown in Uzbekistan has a quality mark in the first category. It is exported to European and Asian countries.

On 23 September, a batch of saffron bulbs was planted in the Bakhmal district of the country’s Jizzakh region.

BMB Trade Group is currently implementing the project with Italian Fin.Opera Srl within the framework of a memorandum signed on the cultivation, industrial processing, and export of saffron and other medicinal plants.

Today, more than 16 million saffron bulbs have been delivered from the Italian city of Brescia to Uzbekistan, thereby increasing the total saffron plantation field to 305 hectares and reaching an investment of up to 40.4 million euros.
