BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 22. Uzbekistan’s UzAuto Motors will launch contracting for updated lineup of Chevrolet Tracker and Onix from May 25, Trend reports.
As part of the second development stage of these Chevrolet models, new modifications, such as Plus and Redline trims, will become available for contracting, Uzbek automaker said.
The updated Premier Plus and Redline trims will be manufactured at the UzAuto Motors plant in the city of Asaka, which operates on a full-cycle production basis, including body welding, painting, and assembly.
The production is carried out on the GM GEM (General Motors Global Emerging Markets) platform, which was established through the modernization of the production lines at the Asaka automobile plant, the UzAuto Motors Powertrain engine manufacturing plant, and localization enterprises, with an investment of $620 million.
Earlier this year, a source at the UzAuto reported that the production of Chevrolet Onix cars will be launched in Kazakhstan.
"Currently, UzAuto Motors exports cars to countries such as Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Lebanon, etc. We export all models of Chevrolet cars, and the new Chevrolet Onix is no exception. In this regard, we will gradually increase the volume of production, by reaching agreements with our car manufacturing partners," the source said.
