Foreigners' presence in the region, factor of extremism growth - Ali Larijani
Foreign Forces presence in the region is the factor of growth of extremism and terrorism, said Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani.
"Growth of extremism in the region is outcome of strategic cooperation of international powers and some of their regional allies," Larijani said in a meeting with Afghan Foreign Minister Zalmai Rassoul on Monday, ISNA reported.
"Expansion of extremism in the region is in line with interests of cross-regional powers to keep interference in other countries' affairs."
"Solution to Afghanistan crisis is closely related to regional cooperation and transition of responsibilities to Afghan people and popular government," Larijani said adding, "the policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran has been assistance to progress, economic development and independence of Afghanistan."
"Expansion of ties with Afghanistan in all spheres is one of important priorities of Iran's regional policies," he added.
Zalmai Rassoul on his part stressed significance of regional cooperation for Afghanistan's calm and security and said, "Iran's assistance for development and economic progress of Afghanistan has had a leading role in establishment of peace in the country."
