Governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) Mahmoud Bahmani has today signed an order to dismiss the CEO of the Tourism Bank, and to change its Board, IRIB News quoted the CBI's press-office as saying on Monday.
The Tourism Bank should introduce a nominee for the CEO and a list of the Board's members to the CBI soon.
Earlier, on Saturday, Bahmani signed an order to dismiss the CEO of the privately owned Saman Bank which was reportedly involved in a recent $2.8-billion fraud scandal, which was described as Iran's biggest case of embezzlement ever.
However, the bank's press-office noted that the CBI is not authorized to dismiss the private banks' chiefs.
Two weeks earlier, 22 suspects were arrested over the corruption case of Bank Saderat, which is one of Iran's major banks. It contains 3,300 active branches and a share capital of $1.6 billion.
