Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian will attend a quadripartite meeting on Syrian crisis in Egypt, Mehr news agency reported on Monday.

According to the report, Iran, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Turkey will hold the meeting and discuss the Syria's issue.

The three countries' leaders (Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Turkey) have announced the need of Bashar Assad's resignation, except for Iran who says protests against Assad regime are plot of Israel and the West.

Anti-government protests have continued in Syria for over 17 months.

According to UN, the total number of victims of the conflict in Syria is nearing 20,000 people. More than 230,000 people become refugees with around three million in need of humanitarian assistance. The Syrian authorities say they oppose the well-armed militants.
