BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 14. A total of 378 mines were rehabilitated in Iran in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024), an official of the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), Abbas Jorjani said, Trend reports.
According to Jorjani, in addition to rehabilitating the mentioned number of mines, the activities of 115 mines have also been expanded.
Jorjani added that the rehabilitation and expansion of 493 mines added about 5 million tons to the country's mineral production potential.
The official noted that the activity of mines has been restored mainly in 9 provinces of the country (Mazandaran, Golestan, Sistan and Baluchestan, Chahar Mahal and Bakhtiari, Kirman, Zanjan, Hormuzgan, East Azerbaijan and Qazvin).
Additionally, it is reported that Iran has mineral reserves of more than 50 billion tons. Production in Iran's mines averages more than 400 million tons per year.
Besides, a total of 434 small mines were rehabilitated in different provinces of Iran in the previous Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023).
