Iran's Imam Khomeini Port sees growth in cargo handling

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 11. The volume of loaded and unloaded cargo at Imam Khomeini Port of Khuzestan Province, located in southwestern Iran, increased by 5.6 percent in the second month of the current Iranian year (from April 20 through May 20, 2024) compared to the same month last year, the statistics of Iran's Port and Maritime Organization said, Trend reports.

According to the statistics, about 4.3 million tons of products were loaded and unloaded at Imam Khomeini Port during the second month. Of them, 2.53 million tons were loaded, and 1.74 million tons of products were unloaded.

The statistics show that during the second month, about 2.13 million tons of products were exported and about 1.6 million tons of products were imported through Iran's Imam Khomeini Port. About 381,000 tons of products were also loaded for transit purposes.

Furthermore, statistics indicate that during the second month, 21,400 tons of products were loaded and 143,000 tons of products were unloaded at Imam Khomeini port for cabotage purposes.

The information adds that 102 tons of products were loaded and 5,430 tons of products were unloaded at this port for other purposes.

Meanwhile, 1.25 million tons of necessary products, about 154,000 tons of metal products, about 440 tons of construction and mining materials, 422 tons of equipment, vehicles, spare parts, and 330,000 tons of chemicals were loaded at Imam Khomeini port.

Based on statistics, this port loaded and unloaded 46,500 tons of leather, clothing, fibers, paper, and wood materials, 114,000 tons of container products, as well as about 1.93 million tons of crude oil and petroleum products.

To note, a total of 13.7 million tons of products were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports for the second month. Some 7.78 million tons of products were loaded, and 5.9 million tons were unloaded. The volume of loading and unloading of products in Iranian ports increased by 4.8 percent compared to the same month last year.
