Iran is ready to export 100,000 metric tons of fisheries to Russia.
Issa Golshahi, an official with Iran Fisheries Organization, said that the county has granted the necessary licenses to certain companies to export fisheries to Russia, Iran's Mehr news agency reported on October 18.
"Russia is a new market for us. Next week a Russian delegation will visit Iran to negotiate over a possible contract," Golshahi explained.
He further expressed hope that Iran's total fisheries exports to all markets will hit $350 million by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2015).
Tehran is currently studying the possibility of exporting fruits and agricultural products to Moscow.
During an official visit to Tehran by a high-ranking Russian delegation, the country officially requested Iran to increase its agricultural products and foodstuff exports to Moscow in order to meet the country's domestic demand.
Head of Iran-Russia Joint Chamber of Commerce Assadollah Asgaroladi said on September 30 that the chamber is studying a plan to use the two countries' national currencies - rial and ruble - in their bilateral trade.
"A Russian bank is supposed to establish a branch in Tehran, transferring the money to businesspersons at the exchange rate of free market," he explained.
