BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 7. The volume of flared gas at the plants of Iran's South Pars Gas Company (12 plants) decreased by 1.2 bcm in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024) compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), the Executive Director of Iran's South Pars Gas Company, Ahmad Bahush said, Trend reports.
According to Bahush, Iran achieved 25 percent progress in operational work within the framework of the project to reduce flaring at the plants of South Pars Gas Company last year. Within this project, the operational work is scheduled to be completed by the end of the 5th month of the current year (August 21, 2024).
The official stated that with the completion of works under this project, the volume of flared gas at the company's plants will decrease from 8.7 million cubic meters to 5.3 million cubic meters per day.
Bahush added that currently 7.4 million cubic meters of flared gas are flared daily at the company's plants.
However, the rich gas produced at the South Pars gas field is processed by the South Pars company. More than 75 percent of the gas consumed in the country is provided by this company. The company has 12 processing plants.
To note, the South Pars gas company intends to earn 350 million euros per year from the sale of 2 million cubic meters of flared gas per day starting next year (March 21, 2025).
