Tehran, Iran, May 1

By Mehdi Sepahvand - Trend:

The Iranian interest section in Cairo denied statements on Iran-Israel relations attributed to Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

The Arabic news website Youm7 had published an article on April 29 claiming that Iran and Israel are outward enemies but covert friends.

The article had also attributed some false statements to Zarif, IRNA news agency reported May 1.

The Iranian interest section announced that the statements are unfounded.

It underlined Iran's official position toward Israel and rejected the prospects of any negotiations between Tehran and Tel Aviv.

Always tense, Iran-Israel relations have grown more strained recently especially since Iran has approached a comprehensive deal with world powers on its nuclear power and international economic sanctions.

Tehran accuses Israel of lobbying against the deal.
