Tehran, Iran, Oct. 12

By Mehdi Sepahvand- Trend: The test firing of missiles by Iran does not breach the country's obligations to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said, Trend's correspondent reported from Tehran Oct. 12.

He made the remarks while responding to a question about whether test-firing the Emad ballistic missile by Iran breaches the resolution 2231 which was passed unanimously by members of the UN Security Council.

"The test firing of the missile does not definitely breach the country's obligations to JCPOA."

"After issuing the 2231 resolution, we announced that our defensive and security capability would not be harmed. We will not compromise on national security and defensive issues at all," Araqchi noted.

On Oct. 11 Iran announced that it had successfully test-fired a new domestically made long-range ballistic missile, dubbed Emad.

Araqchi further touched upon the issue of Hajj disaster, saying the county expects Saudi Arabia's authorities to give a full explanation about the deadly crush in Mina, that killed hundreds of pilgrims from different countries, including Iran.

Tehran is still waiting for a straight answer with full clarification from the Saudi officials over the Mina incident, Araqchi added.

He further said that a committee is established in foreign ministry to follow up the issue.
