Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has said that his country is the first regional country which is managed with religious democracy.
He made the remarks after putting forward his nomination for the election of the Assembly of Experts, to be held February 2016, the IRNA agency reported Dec. 21.
Rouhani further called on all parties and political groups to participate in the upcoming election in the country.
The Assembly of Experts is comprised of 86 Islamic scholars, who are elected by the public to an eight-year term.
The Assembly of Experts is an influential body in charge of supervising the supreme leader and organizations under his direct control, as well as electing a successor to him.
Iran started a process to register nominees on Dec. 17 for the election to the Assembly.
