Iran has deployed a new missile system, called Talash, for operation in the southern parts of the country.

The system was introduced on the second day of a series of large-scale exercises, where Air Defense forces detected and hit hypothetical enemy’s aircraft, Tasnim news agency reported December 27.

Another missile used on the day was named Ya Zahra-3, a mobile system that can be stationed in a broad range of locations and integrated into the nationwide air defense network. It can detect 30 targets simultaneously and take action against 12.

In addition to the missile system, the Air Defense forces for the first time employed an aerospace communication system with a range of more than 150 kilometers, used for creating secure connections.

Involving more than 17,000 military forces, the war game covers an area of 496,000 square kilometers in Iran’s southern areas, mainly the provinces of Hormozgan, Bushehr and Khuzestan.
