Georgia approves loan agreement with French Development Agency

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 23

Georgian Committee on Agrarian Affairs supported the Water Supply and Sewerage Sector Reform Program in cooperation with the French Development Agency (AFD), Trend reports via the press service of the Georgian Parliament.

The Agency has allocated 30 million euros for the water and sanitation sector reform in co-financing with the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The aim of this program is to establish a legal and institutional framework for the management of the water supply and sanitation sector, which will improve its water supply and sewerage sector management capabilities, the First Deputy Minister of Finance Giorgi Kakauridze said.

The program will also strengthen the urban and rural water supply and sewerage sector and make the institutional capacity of the United Water Supply Company of Georgia more efficient, he noted.

According to Kakauridze, the duration of the loan is 20 years, including a grace period of 5 years.
