Georgia sees recovery in number of flights, passengers

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 18. The number of flights operated through Georgia’s airspace from January through February 2022 increased by 47.05 percent, compared to 5,917 flights over the same period of 2021, and totaled 12,577 flights, Trend reports via Georgian media.

However, according to the Civil Aviation Agency of Georgia, the same figure decreased by 46.45 percent compared to the same period of 2020 (23,486), and by 46.06 percent, compared to 23,315 flights over the same period of 2019 (before the COVID-19 pandemic).

Meanwhile, the passenger traffic in Georgia’s airports from January through February 2022 also recovered by 74.5 percent, compared to the pre-pandemic period. Georgia’s airports served 443,953 passengers in the reporting period of 2022, while 595,905 were served over the same period of 2019.

The number of passengers served at Georgia’s airports from January through February 2022 increased by 933.5 percent, compared to the same period of 2021 (42,956), however, decreased by 25.6 percent, compared to the reporting period of 2020 (596,801).
