Suspected al-Qaeda militants attacked a police patrol in southern Yemen on Thursday, killing three policemen, security sources said, dpa reported.
The attackers threw a hand grenade and opened fire at the patrol vehicle near a checkpoint in Zinjebar city, the provincial capital of Abyan province, the sources told the German Press Agency dpa.
Three policemen were killed and a third was injured, said the sources, who requested anonymity.
