Egypt's military rulers are ready to cede power if voters choose to do so through a referendum, the Head of the ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces Hussein Tantawi said Tuesday, dpa reported.
"The Armed Forces do not seek power ... and are ready to leave power immediately through (the) holding (of) a popular referendum if necessary," Tantawi said in a televised address.
He confirmed that presidential elections would be held by the end of June and that a new cabinet would be formed soon.
