Palestine's permanent observer to the United Nations Riyad Mansour said here Friday that he has reported to the UN Security Council the crimes committed by Israel in the occupied territories, and called for a briefing at the 15- nation body on the current situation in the captured lands, Xinhua reported.

Masour made the remarks to reporters here after he presented a four-page letter to Baso Sangqu, the South African UN ambassador who holds the rotating Security Council presidency for January.

"I met this morning with the president of the Security Council, " Mansour said, adding "I gave him by hand a letter."

"In that letter, we documented the crimes committed by the occupying authority against our people in the occupied territory, including the terrorist activities by the (Jewish) settlers against our civilian population in the occupied territory, especially in the occupied east Jerusalem," he said.
